It is scientifically proven that Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) kills all bacteria, spores, viruses, protozoans, moulds and yeasts. The level of UV irradiation in our cabinets will kill 99.9% of Poliovirus 1, SARS, H-CoV 229E , H-CoVOC43, H-CoV 229E, Influenza A (H1N1), Covid 19 in under one minute of exposure (*ref.: M. Buonanno, D. Welch, I. Shuryak, D.J. Brenner; DOI: 10.21203/ rs.3.rs -25728/v1), (*ref.: Tree et al. 2005), (*ref.:CDC, 2020) . The longer the exposure, the higher the log reduction achieved (see “What is log kill” below).
In designing the UviPortable our goal was zero compromise on the efficacy of disinfection. Whilst many devices claim “99.99% disinfection” this really only means 99.99% of the irradiated areas. The mere act of sitting the device to be disinfected on a shelf or wire rack means that UVC cannot reach those contact points, along with any other areas not directly in sight of the UVC light source. Some UVC cabinets claim as much as 99.999% disinfection but only in fact clean the inside surface areas of a headset without cleaning the outside or touch points on the headset support at all. Most contagions, including Covid-19, are transmitted via touch so it is essential to clean ALL surface areas touched by users.
We did extensive R&D on overcoming these challenges, and through a unique combination of a three point UVC light source, UVC reflective internal surfaces, and quartz advanced technology have been able to ensure that EVERY surface gets disinfected – no contact dead spots, 360 degree disinfection, and penetration even into the insides of headsets.
So what is “quartz advanced”?
UVC light is normally absorbed and in some cases partially reflected from most materials, including glass and perspex, even though visible light passes straight through. We did extensive research on materials that will allow complete transmission of UVC light THROUGH the surface and as a result of that research developed a unique device platform made of a specialised form of quartz which allows near complete transmission of UVC light.
Sitting the device to be cleaned on this platform, with a UVC source underneath and at such an angle that allows direct UVC light to enter the inside of headsets, combined with dual UVC light sources above the device to irradiate the top and sides of the device means complete coverage.
UV Cleantech believes that if you are investing in a UVC cleaning cabinet it is insufficient, even self defeating, to only partially clean the device. To have peace of mind you need to know that ALL of the device is cleaned. The UviPortable does this.
Uvisan cabinets have been purpose buit to address three key operational needs: lockable storage, high rate charging of multiple devices, and high efficacy UVC disinfection.
They have been designed using solid steel and finished to a very high standard so they complement any office environment and integrate into a businesses operational needs.
Three sizes; small, medium and large allow the Uvisan range to uniquely address a wide range of storage, charging and disinfection needs.
Extensive testing, including lab testing of UVC efficacy has led to what we believe is “best in breed” for disinfection of a larger quantity of devices and other objects simultaneously.
Yes, completely safe. UviPortable and Uvisan cabinets are designed in a way that no radiation will escape. The Uvisan is also supplied with an IEC 62471 Photobiological Safety certificate. We are in the Exempt group – the highest safety standard. Additionally all UviPortable and Uvisan cabinets are equipped with a door safety switch preventing accidental light exposure (in case the doors are opened during a sanitation cycle).
Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UVC) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions. UVGI is used in a variety of applications, such as food, air, and water purification.

Due to the quartz advanced technology and other innovations providing true 360 degree disinfection, there are no special requirements to ensure complete disinfection. Simply place the device to be cleaned centrally on the platform. This allows the 3 point UVC light sources to have maximum access to all surface areas and disinfect the entire device(s) in one pass.

As it is not as practical to provide quartz advanced technology in larger cabinets designed for storage, charging and disinfection, these may be thought of as “180 degrees plus” cleaning. Underside surfaces and contact points on the shelves mean that to achieve optimal cleaning best practice is to spread devices to be cleaned evenly across the shelves ensuring no overlap or “shadowed” areas, and after running one cleaning cycle, turn the devices over and run a second cleaning cycle.
UviPortable
The UviPortable has been exhaustively tested for UVC irradiation levels over every part of the cabinet area for both the top and underside surfaces. These results are fully documented against scientifically established and accepted UVC irradiation levels required to kill a wide range of pathogens.
The UviPortable conforms to Australian and NZ electrical standards AS/NZS 4417.2020, is approved by the TGA (Theraputic Goods Association) as being in the exempt category, and has been tested to emit zero ozone (The SafeWork Australia safe exposure limit for ozone is 0.1 ppm, which is the Time Weighted Average Exposure over an 8 hour working day).

CE, RoHS, IEC 62471, Electromagnetic Compatibility/Low Voltage Directive, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Sterilisation Efficacy Evaluation certificate (European standards).
In addition, UV Cleantech in Australia have conduced UVC level tests testing all areas of the cabinets to confirm UVC levels.
Yes, our testing data and official lab reports in full are available on request.
SafeWork Australia defines a safe exposure limit for ozone at 0.1 ppm (Time Weighted Average Exposure over 8 hour working day). Other countries apply similar or the same standard. UviPortable and Uvisan lamps are deisgned to emit zero ozone, which has been confirmed by testing.
UV sanitation in comparison to various chemicals is far cleaner and more environmentally friendly. Most importantly, it does not leave any residue on disinfected surfaces.
No liquids and no living creatures are allowed inside our cabinets. Other than that, almost every commonly used item which needs surface disinfection can be cleaned. Metals, various plastics and materials, cardboard, and rubber surfaces can be effectively sanitised in our cabinets.
We have done excessive stress testing with various headsets and other popular electronic devices (mobile phones, tablets etc) simulating 1.5 years of standard usage (significantly more than any device would be exposed to in its lifetime). We observed no impact of the UVC radiation either on appearance or function.
Yes, UviPortable and Uvisan cabinets come with a 1-year warranty from the day of delivery. Most importantly, we offer full warranty and maintenance support here in Australia.
All the electric and electronic devices are protected by circuit breakers and a RCD module in the Uvisan cabinets, and a low amp fuse in the UviPortable. Also during normal operation the temperature inside the cabinet is in the region of between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. Additionally the cabinets are made of non-combustible materials (mostly steel for Uvisan, and aluminum for the UviPortable).
10 kg per shelf is the maximum we recommend for the Uvisan, and 3kg for the UviPortable.
Log Kill (also known as Log Reduction) is a widely used measure describing how well the process of decontamination eliminates a contaminant. It is determined by measuring the number of living microbes eliminated when the decontamination process is complete. The higher the Log Reduction, the more thorough the decontamination. By eliminating 99.99% of living microbes, UviPortable and Uvisan products achieve a Log Kill of 4. Most importantly, this has been tested to occur over all areas of the cabinet providing 360 degree device coverage in a single pass for the UviPortable, and 360 degree device coverage in Uvisan cabinets turning the device over between cycles
The table below shows the level of contaminant reduction in each level of Log Reduction.
Log Reduction | Reduction Factor | Percent Reduced |
1 | 10 | 90% |
2 | 100 | 99% |
3 | 1,000 | 99.9% |
4 | 10,000 | 99.99% |

It is specific to the lamp – an electric discharge produces UV radiation in a very narrow band (peak exactly at 254nm). There are also small “sidebands” produced in a visible range (over 400nm) – this is the pale blue colour characteristic to all UVC lamps.
Lamps offer almost constant UV output over their complete lifetime, for maximum security of disinfection and high system efficacy – always 254nm. Lifespan of our lamps is 9000 hours.
Yes, in fact as an integrated storage, charging and cleaning solution this is expected for the Uvisan cabinets. The UVC cleaning cycle will switch off automatically when completed, leaving the devices to charge in lockable storage.
For the UviPortable, it also includes a USB charge port so devices can be left in the cabinet to charge after the cleaning cycle is complete.
